I love to find a dish or dessert that I love so much I want to copy the recipe. Shana and I use to go to late night happy hour at Coho in Issaquah, WA. I remember when we had Hula Hula Chicken. I kept tasting it saying to Shana, "what is that spice or flavor". Well, finally I asked the waitress, told her I like to try to make restaurant recipes at home. You know what, she asked the chef. He said he could not tell me the exact measurements but she handed me a list of ingredients!!
I think I made it a few times that summer. One of my coworkers at Virginia Mason asked me to make the cranberry bliss bars that Starbucks sells during the holidays. She handed me a recipe and said, "if anyone can do this Sally, I bet you can!" I made them so much that Christmas, everyone enjoyed them. I even made them for my daughter's Christmas work party.
Well, here we are with the holidays approaching and Stephanie ask me if I could bring them to Aunt Diane's thanksgiving dinner. I haven't made them for a couple years, so I found a recipe on RecipeGirl which looks similar. I am doing a practice run today, the wonderful staff at The Element are my tasters, and then I will tweak it and make if for Thanksgiving day.
Recipe and pictures to follow :)
This is one of the only things I have from my mom, this frosting spatula. I love it! I'm having trouble downloading the recipe. I got it from RecipeGirl if you want to look it up. They turned out so good!
