I love Mexican food, but really my favorite are taco's. I use ground turkey or ground beef, sometimes thinly sliced chicken breast. There's where the question is....when I make taco's I use sliced onions and peppers. It adds color and some extra veggies to your meal. Also, I make up my own spice mix. I will put the recipe below.
So I sent a picture or was telling someone and they said, "that's fajitas". Well, when I tell Chuck I am making taco's he knows what he's getting, taco's with onion, peppers and garlic :):O
I only have one picture, the finished product just didn't photograph well.
2 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon ground oregano
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon ground cumin
2 to 3 teaspoon sea salt (more or less to taste)
2 teaspoon black pepper
1. In small bowl, mix all ingredients and store in airtight container. (Or you can mix it together in the container you are going to store it in–just give it a shake!)
2. Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of this mixture plus 1/2 to 3/4 cup of water to one pound of cooked meat (of your choice). Simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently until there is very little liquid left in the pan.
3. Serve with your favorite taco toppings! I recommend lots of sour cream, fresh salsa, guacamole, lettuce, cheese and tomato.
I usually double it so I have some for later.
